Skeletocutis odora is a species of polypore fungus that grows on decaying wood, particularly oak and pine. In East and Central Texas, it has been found to fruit in the spring and fall, typically on logs and stumps in moist, shaded areas. The fungus produces annual, effused-reflexed to pileate fruiting bodies with a distinctive sweet, anise-like odor and a grayish-brown to tan poroid hymenium. It is a relatively small to medium-sized fungus, usually 2-8 cm wide and up to 1 cm thick.
