Oxyporus latemarginatus is a crust fungus that grows on deciduous trees, particularly oak and elm. In East and Central Texas, it has been found on living and dead branches, stumps, and trunks, often in shaded, humid areas. The fruiting body is resupinate to effused-reflexed, with a white to cream-colored pore surface and a distinctive late-marginate (having a margin that appears later than the rest of the fungus) growth pattern. It typically fruits in spring and fall, producing spores that are cylindrical to subcylindrical in shape. The fungus is considered relatively rare in the region, but can be locally common in suitable habitats.
